Dibromomethane (CAS: 74-95-3) is used as solvent in organic synthesis. It acts as an intermediate in the manufacture of specialty chemicals, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals.  Used as raw materials of organic synthesis, as solvent, refrigerant, flame retardant and anti-explosion agent components, used as disinfectant in medicine and town use in organic synthesis raw materials, can be used as refrigerant/flame retardant components. Dibromomethane is a good flame retardant. The addition ofdibromomethaneto the polymer effectively reduces the heat of combustion of the plastic when it is burned. Dibromomethane, as a pesticide intermediate, is the main raw material for the synthesis of new high-efficiency, broad-spectrum fungicides, and is the raw material for large-tonnage acaricides. It is also used in the synthesis of pesticides such as Mycobacterium nitrile and other organic compounds. Dibromomethane may be used for the cyclopropanation of alkenes via Simmons-Smith type reaction. Dibromomethane is used as a methylating agent for the manufacture of dimethyl sulfoxide, caffeine, vanillin, aminopyrine, trimethoprim and pesticide acephate, etc..
